Arnside is an idyllic coastal haven on the edge of the Lake District National Park and an ideal gateway to all that the Lakes has to offer.

Located approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Manchester it makes a perfect country retreat whilst being within easy commuter range.

Kendal is only 13 miles away to the North, with the Westmoreland Shopping Centre, Marks and Spencer and all the usual high street retailers. To the South Carnforth is under 9 miles away with a Tesco, Aldi and a larger Booths supermarket. Lancaster is only 9 miles further south from here.

More locally, Milnthorpe is the nearest small town (3 miles away) with a lovely Booths Supermarket and a range of  shops, restaurants and take aways along with a weekly Friday market.

Arnside is famous for its amazing wildlife, stunning scenery and superb walks. From the beauty of the lady’s-slipper orchid to the sands of Morecambe Bay, Arnside is full of natural spectacles and things to do.

Arnside lies amongst low limestone hills, marshy plains and deciduous woodland at the southern tip of South Lakeland in a designated Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. This former fishing port has retained many of its original features with stunning views over Morecambe Bay, particularly at sunset. Pretty shops line Arnside promenade and you can sit outside one of the local pubs and look across the estuary towards Grange-over-Sands and the Lakeland peaks. If you want to get an even better view from 520 feet above sea level, Arnside Knott is another great vantage point.

As a gateway to the Lakes, Arnside takes some beating and with some 80m of shore frontage, Ashmeadow House stands proud at the end of the Promenade.

The village itself boasts, 2 convenience stores, 2 pubs, a pharmacy, three cafe’s, two bakeries, numerous gift shops, art galleries, an award winning chip shop and plenty of outlets selling ice cream!

The Arnside and Silverdale area is considered a last remaining stronghold of the red squirrel, which feeds on the cones of Scots Pines on nearby White Scar. There are 15 Sites of Special Scientific Interest in the area – great places to see rare butterflies and alpine plants on the stunning limestone pavements.

Every summer in Arnside, you can take guided walks across Morecambe Bay to enjoy the unique light, space and panoramic views.

The Sunday Times have just voted Arnside one of the best places to live in the North West of England:

Arnside was also voted one of the “Best UK Places to Live By the Sea”:
